Center for Student Achievement Tutor Application


Peer Tutoring is a research-based academic support service that has been a part of American Education for centuries. Peer tutors are selected based on past academic achievement and faculty recommendations. Tutors meet one-on-one or in small groups with students to help them grasp fundamental concepts, work through practice problems, and develop a further understanding of the course content. Tutoring helps students develop independent learning strategies that can be used throughout their college experience and as they progress through life.

You do not need to make an appointment to meet with a tutor.

** Simply check the schedule to be sure a tutor will be in the CSA at the time you plan to come in.  

**If you plan to receive tutoring for the Praxis Core Exam, please call the CSA at 410-677-4865 to schedule an appointment.

Program Highlights

Fall 2016:

  • The number of visits during the semester increased by 47% from the previous semester.
  • 97.2% of tutoring participants believed that tutoring was beneficial.
  • 78.1% of students who came to tutoring 1 or more times passed with a C or better in the course tutored for.
  • 97.2% of tutoring participants would recommend tutoring to other students. 

Spring 2016:

  • 85% of tutoring participants either agreed or strongly believed the tutors were friendly and approachable.
  • 73.6% believed the sessions were helpful.
  • 89.5% would recommend that other students attend tutoring sessions.
  • 80% of student who attended tutoring passed their course with a C or better!
