Application Materials

Your application to Salisbury should include:

Official SAT/ACT Scores

All standardized test results must be officially forwarded to Salisbury University from the respective testing centers or your high school guidance office. The ETS code number for Salisbury University is 5403 and the ACT code is 1716.

If you are scheduled to take an exam in the future, please remember to include Salisbury University when asked where you want your scores reported. For information about the Test Optional Policy please visit

Official High School Transcripts

Request your official transcripts early from your guidance office. Faxes will not be accepted.

Mailing Address: Office of Admissions 1200 Camden Avenue Salisbury, MD 21801

Other Transcripts

If you have attended more than one high school and the latest school does not include previous course work, a transcript from the previous high school must be received. In addition, if you have taken courses at a community college or at an accredited four-year college or university, official transcripts must also be received once you have decided to attend SU.

Letters of Recommendation

Salisbury University requires one letter of recommendation, typically satisfied by the Secondary School Counselor's Recommendation Form submitted by your school counselor. Applicants are welcome to submit additional letters of recommendation, but they are encouraged to include them in the transcript packet. Any letter of recommendation included with the transcript packet will remain with the student's file for review. If other recommendation letters are submitted separately, the Office of Admission will match them with the student's application to the degree possible. If you choose to apply using the Common Application, electronic copies of the high school transcript and letters of recommendation will also be accepted

Personal Statement/Essay

This is your opportunity to tell us more about you, beyond what we would see on your transcript.

If you are pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts, you are required to submit a portfolio of your work to the Art Department. Portfolio reviews are done twice annually with deadlines of: December 1 or March 1. For more information or to submit your portfolio, visit:

Once you've submitted an application to Salisbury University a letter will arrive in the mail with your GullNet username and password. You will have the ability to track your requirements and application status with your GullNet account. There is a $50.00 application fee.

When to Apply

Salisbury University has four different admissions plans under which freshman applicants are considered:

  • Early Decision is the best option if you are a high school senior and you are certain that Salisbury University is the institution you would like to attend. In this case, students should submit their application and all required materials (including official SAT or ACT scores and an official high school transcript) by November 15. Decisions are made by December 15 and a non-refundable $300 deposit is required by January 15. If you are admitted to SU under this option, you will need to withdraw all other college applications as Early Decision is a "binding" agreement. If comparing financial aid packages is an important element of a student's decision, SU does not encourage that student to apply through Early Decision. However, students will be reviewed for scholarship consideration at the time of admission and will receive information on any scholarships received.
  • Early Action is for high school seniors who submit their application and all required materials (including official SAT or ACT scores and an official high school transcript) by December 1. Decisions are made by January 15 and a non-refundable $300 deposit is required by May 1. As a deposit is not required until May 1, Early Action is considered a "non-binding" agreement.
  • Regular Decision is available for students who submit all required application materials for admission (including official SAT or ACT scores and an official high school transcript) by a recommended deadline of January 15. Candidates are notified of the admission decision by March 15. Those who are admitted have until May 1 to confirm their acceptance by submitting a non-refundable $300 deposit. Applications received after the January 15th deadline will be considered on a space-available basis. The University reserves the right to close admissions when the projected enrollment is met.
  • Early Admission is an admission option for academically talented high school juniors who wish to "skip" their entire senior year. Students who are completing their junior year of high school may be considered for acceptance into the regular University program provided they present evidence of outstanding academic achievement. The requirements for admission under the Early Admission Plan include a competitive grade point average and competitive SAT or ACT scores with our applicant pool, rigorous courses, a positive recommendation from the student's high school, and a certification of eligibility for a high school diploma. A personal interview with the SU Office of Admissions is required.
