SU Percussion Ensemble Presents Spring Concert

SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury University Percussion Ensemble presents its spring concert “Asia and the World” 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, in the Jackson Family Auditorium of Holloway Hall.

Directed by Eric Shuster, the program features a newly commissioned work, “Five Etudes for the Spring Festival,” by Philadelphia-based composer Brian Bell. The piece follows the accounts of a Chinese woman as she recalls her memories of the Chinese New Year of her childhood in China and South Korea, and later as a mother in Philadelphia’s Chinatown. Instrumentation includes tuba, piano, pipes, opera gongs, drums and more.

Also on the program are works by John Cage, Jlin, Colin McPhee and Eugene Novotney.

Tickets are $10, $5 for seniors. Admission is free for SU faculty, staff and students but tickets are required. Tickets are available through SU’s online box office
