Sarah

Dr. Sarah Surak, PACE Co-Director

Dr. Surak serves as the Co-Director of PACE. With her Co-Director Sandy Pope she facilitates PACE's Civic Engagement Across the Curriculum (CEAC) program. Together they are coordinating a multi-year research project to collect and analyze data on the delivery of a civic engagement component within the fourth credit hour of undergraduate courses. Dr. Surak also teaches courses for the Presidential Citizens Scholar program.

Dr. Alexander "Sandy" Pope IV, PACE Co-Director

Dr. Pope serves as the Co-Director of PACE. With his Co-Director Sarah Surak he also facilitates PACE's Civic Engagement Across the Curriculum (CEAC) program. Carolina

Dr. Carolina Bown, Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Director

Originally from Chile, Carolina Bown, PhD, is part of the PACE Team as the Campus Director of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. She is also a faculty member in the Department of Modern Languages, Director of the SU Study Abroad Program in Ecuador, and a Founding Member and Secretary of the Women's Forum at our university. Her research focuses on female leadership and Andean world, which has led her to publish about indigenous women leaders and to serve in New Jersey and New York District Courts as an expert on Ecuadorian issues. Her goal is that her work will help promote gender equality and social justice.

Abigail Horton, Administrative Coordinator 

Abigail Horton serves as Administrative Coordinator for PACE. She handles the day-to-day operations for the Institute and assists with event planning and programming. Abigail received her B.A. in Sociology and her M.A. in Conflict Analysis & Dispute Resolution from SU.

Mwebber

Michael Webber, Graduate Research Assistant

Michael Webber serves as the Graduate Research Assistant for PACE. He is currently pursuing his Master's of Education in Higher and Post-Secondary Education, and has a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and Philosophy. Michael’s main goal is to be the director of a LGBTQIA Resource Center or civic engagement office. He also has an interest in being an Adjunct Professor of Education. While he can be seen representing PACE in a number of different fashions, Michael’s main focus will be working to align PACE’s civic learning outcomes with PACE’s overall efforts on-campus. Michael will also be leading a campus-wide assessment to determine how well students are responding to efforts designed to keep them civically engaged. The assessment will ran in the Spring of 2017. Results will be available Fall 2017.
