Richard A. Henson School of Science and Technology Gift Announcement
Wednesday, October 4, 2017
During a festive fall gathering in the Henson Science Hall courtyard, the Richard A. Henson Foundation, Inc. reaffirmed its commitment to Salisbury University with the surprise announcement of a new $2.5 million gift for the campus’ Henson School of Science and Technology. Faculty, staff, students, local officials and friends applauded the generosity of Henson Foundation trustees. In a moving tribute, Chairman Vic Laws compared Mr. Henson’s philanthropic impact on the community to SU President Janet Dudley-Eshbach’s transformational leadership for the campus.
The gift marks the 30th anniversary of Mr. Henson’s original multi-million-dollar endowment of the school. It will support student scholarships, undergraduate and faculty research, a science and mathematics honors program, the repair and replacement of aging equipment, and a new high-performance computer laboratory. “Mr. Henson’s support has made possible the outstanding science and technology programs we offer today,” Dudley-Eshbach told an appreciative audience of some 200.
