Faculty Leave
Annual Leave
A full-time faculty member serving on a ten-month academic year contract is entitled to fifteen calendar days of paid annual leave which shall be the last fifteen days of the ten-month contract period, unless otherwise designated at the time of appointment. Such paid annual leave may not be carried forward into the next fiscal year.
A part-time faculty member appointment on at least a 50% of full-time basis and serving on a ten-month academic year contract is entitled to annual leave on a pro-rata basis. Such leave shall be taken as the final days of the ten-month contract period, unless otherwise designated at the time of appointment. Such paid annual leave may not be carried forward into the next fiscal year.
A full-time faculty member serving on a fiscal-year contract (12-months) shall earn 22 days of annual leave per calendar year at the rate of 6.77 hours per pay period. Beginning on the 21st year of employment, 25 days per year is accrued. A part-time faculty member appointed on at least a 50% of full-time basis shall earn annual leave on a pro-rata basis, on the same terms available to full-time fiscal-year faculty members. Annual leave may be accumulated with a maximum of 50 days carried over into a new calendar year.
Creditable Sick Leave
Sick leave for faculty members serving on a ten-month academic year contract is accrued at the rate of 1.25 work days per month at full salary. Part-time faculty members who are employed at least 50% time are eligible for sick leave benefits proportionate to their percent employed. Sick leave may be accumulated without limitation.
Sick leave for faculty members serving on a fiscal year contract (12-months) is accrued as 15 days per calendar year at the rate of 4.62 hours per pay period. Part-time faculty members who are employed at least 50% time are eligible for leave proportionate to their percent employed.

Non-Creditable Sick Leave (Collegial Leave)
When a faculty member is incapacitated for brief periods of illness, injury, or childbirth, the “collegial” method of accommodating faculty disability is preferred. This is the practice whereby colleagues of the disabled faculty member – on a voluntary basis – take over his or her classes and other essential functions, in addition to carrying on their regular work. This provision may be employed when practicable up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) work days for each faculty member in one fiscal year. After that time, creditable sick leave shall be charged.

Staff Leave
Annual Leave
Earned Annual Leave may be used for different reasons, the most common being vacation. All eligible employees accrue Annual Leave at a fixed rate, based on position and years of service. Exempt employees earn 22 days per year. A maximum of 50 days may be carried over to the next calendar year (fiscal year for Contingent II employees).
Annual leave for fulltime non-exempt staff employees will be earned according to the following schedule:

Eligible part-time employees who are employed on at least 50 percent of a full-time basis earn prorated annual leave.
Sick Leave
All regular employees, regardless of job title, accrue Sick Leave at the rate of 1.25 days per month of work. Non-exempt employees as well as exempt employees, earn 15 days each year. Sick Leave accumulation is unlimited. Eligible part-time employees who are employed on at least 50 percent of a full-time basis earn prorated sick leave.

Bereavement Leave
One to five days of earned Sick Leave may be used to cover an employee's absence when there is a death in the family. The exact amount permitted depends on the employee's relationship to the deceased and whether overnight travel is involved.
Pregnancy-related disabilities, childbirth, adoption
Eligible employees may use up to 12 weeks of accrued Sick Leave to care for a child immediately following the birth of a child or placement of the child with the employee for adoption. This runs concurrent with FMLA if FMLA applies.
Family Illness Leave
Earned Sick Leave may also be used for the purpose of providing care for sick family members.
Personal Leave
Eligible employees receive three (3) days or 24 hours of Personal Leave per calendar year (contract year for Contingent II employees). Eligible part-time employees who are employed on at least 50 percent of a full-time basis earn prorated personal leave. Earned Personal Leave may not be carried forward. If not taken by the end of the calendar year, or by the end of the first pay period in July for Contingent II employees, unused Personal Leave is forfeited.
Holidays
Eligible employees earn 14 (15 in an election year) paid holidays per calendar/contract year. All unused holidays must be taken by the end of the first pay period ending in January of the following year for PIN employees. Contingent II employees must use all their earned holidays by the first pay period ending in July. Eligible part-time employees who are employed on at least 50 percent of a full-time basis earn prorated holiday leave.
Military Leave
Statute affords members of Military Reserve or National Guard units a benefit of 15 Military Leave days per year to attend active duty training.
