The University uses Vivenu as a ticketing platform for events.

Some events may not be a good fit for Vivenu including some free events and if only registration is required. Once your request is submitted someone will reach out to you about your options.

Only SU events open to the public are advertised on the Route 13 marquee. Events typically are promoted day-of, with the possibility of one additional day depending on the number of events scheduled that day.

Press releases are written to attract media attention to SU for an external audience. The PR Office has discretion over which news stories are suitable for this purpose. Stories are written using a combination of Associated Press and SU style, which precludes marketing language.  

The PR Office typically does not write student profiles or alumni stories. The PR Office also does not schedule photos or control SU social media.

Events in Panorama automatically receive press releases (for print media) and public service announcements (for broadcast). All other request for event press releases should be submitted at least three weeks in advance of the event.  

All SU press releases are posted to the SU website. The PR Office is unable to control if/when external media choose to run a particular press release or news story.  

Pre-event press releases are not sent or posted for events that are not open to the public. Post-event press releases are not issued for events that receive pre-event releases. Typically, the PR Office does not attend events in an official capacity unless accompanying off-campus media.

The PR Office invites external media to campus events at its discretion. Not every event will warrant media coverage, nor can the PR Office guarantee coverage at events to which media are invited.

PR Office representatives will accompany any media on campus. Media typically do not allow stories to be reviewed before they are published/aired, and the PR Office is unable to guarantee how event will be covered by off-campus media.

PR typically requests that media line up interviews with SU students, faculty and staff through the PR Office; however, faculty who are contacted by media directly may respond at their discretion.

If an SU community member is responding to a media request outside their official capacity at SU (e.g. as a community member, as a member of a non-SU organization, etc.), this should be made clear to the reporter.

The PR Office will accompany media on campus and, in certain instances, provide talking points for interview subjects upon request. (Note: It is unusual for media to share interview questions in advance, though PR can make that request.)

For direct media inquiries to which you do not wish to respond, please direct the reporter to the PR Office or let the PR office know, and we will let the reporter know you are unavailable and/or help them find an alternate source, if applicable.

SU News (different from SU Today) is geared to an off-campus audience. Submissions specifically for the publication typically are not accepted. It is a roundup of press releases written by the PR Office, with 5-7 news stories per week as space allows.
