Course Reserves

The SU Libraries Course Reserves collection allows faculty to place high-use materials at the Library Service Desk. These materials are checked out for shorter periods to allow all students in a course to use them.

Accessing Course Reserves

Physical books, DVDs, and other materials on reserve for a course can be found at the Library Service Desk in the Guerrieri Academic Commons. Please let the staff working at the desk know the Course Reserves location for the item, and they will retrieve it for you.

You can find the Course Reserves location for an item by searching for it in SURF. In the search box on the library homepage or directly in SURF, choose "Course Reserves" from the dropdown, then search by the item title or instructor's name. The location will be listed on the item and will appear in the format "Instructor Name #" (for example, "Smith #5"). Note that the instructor name on the location may not be your instructor's name, since some items are used by multiple instructors.

Course Reserves Information for Faculty

Faculty can request items be put on Course Reserves through the Library Support Center. You can place items on reserve that are from the Libraries' collections or that are personal items provided by you.
