Lyric Soprano, Christine Arnand performs February 13 at SSU

SALISBURY, MD--Lyric soprano Christine Arand, cited by the New York Times for her "polished soprano," performs at Salisbury State University on Sunday, February 28, at 2 p.m. Her performance, part of the Universityâs Juilliard Series, is in the Guerrieri University Centerâs Wicomico Room. The concert is free and open to the public.

Arand recently made her European debut creating the leading role of Lise in the premiere of Philip Glassâ opera-dance, Les Enfants Terribles with much success throughout Europe and the United States.

With Glimmerglass Opera, she sang the female leading role of Tiny, Paul Bunyanâs daughter in Brittenâs opera, Paul Bunyan, and sang Laurie in Aaron Coplandâs The Tender Land with Bronx Opera. Her other recent roles include Musetta with Jonathan Miller, Marguerite in concerts with Glimmerglass Opera and Zdenka at San Francisco Opera and Santa Fe Opera.

She studies at the Juilliard School under a fellowship from the Juilliard Opera Center. While there, she was a "sexy, strong soprano," as Poppea in Lâincoronazione di Poppea and "delightful" (New York Times) as Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro.
