Important COVID-19 Information from Salisbury University

Members of the Campus Community,

This afternoon, Governor Larry Hogan announced the reinstatement of some previous COVID-19 precautions across the state, effective 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, in response to rising coronavirus positivity rates in Maryland and throughout the nation.

While positivity rates remain low at SU, these precautions serve as a reminder of the importance of doing everything possible to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19, including wearing face masks, maintaining a social distance of at least 6 feet away from others when possible, washing hands often (or using hand sanitizer when soap and water are not immediately available) and avoiding large gatherings.

It is important to note that the work-from-home mandate the Governor announced for many state employees does not apply to employees of the University System of Maryland or to employees of SU. Those who have been working on campus this semester may continue to do so. SU employees who are currently teleworking should plan to continue as appropriate. Human Resources will work with departments to determine increased opportunities for telework.

These new statewide precautions go into effect just two weeks before Thanksgiving break. As you prepare to travel, please remember that these restrictions — and similar orders in other states, for those traveling outside of Maryland — should factor into your plans at home. Also remember that all students, faculty and staff must schedule an SU-administered COVID-19 test for the week of November 30 in order to be cleared to return to campus. Reservations are still available at www.calendly.com/Salisbury.

As we continue monitoring new cases of COVID-19 in Maryland and the surrounding community, we hope to maintain the low positivity rates SU has seen for the past six weeks. Thank you for doing your part to keep our campus safe.
