SU's Theatre Presents 'The Vagina Monologues' Dec. 3-4
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Bobbi Biron Theatre Program presents The Vagina Monologues Friday-Saturday, December 3-4, in the Black Box Theatre of Fulton Hall.
Directed by Amanda Welch-Hamill and Chelsea Dean, curtain is 7:30 p.m.
Written by Eve Ensler in 1996 following interviews she conducted with 200 women about their views on sex, relationships and violence against women, The Vagina Monologues has been published in 48 languages.
In an interview with Women.com, Ensler said that her fascination with vaginas began because of "growing up in a violent society,” and that “women's empowerment is deeply connected to their sexuality. We perform these pieces in honor of women everywhere and their disparate yet often similar experiences existing in this world.”
The performance is recommended for mature audiences.
The cast includes Usra Akaraki, Erin Bourn, Zoe Michelle Bradshaw, Chelsea Dean, Daelyn Funk, Jayce Jenkins, Abigail Johnson, Brianna King, Joanna Mason, Chloe Parsons, Grace Quade, Katie Schmidt and Molly Witkin.
Sponsored by the Music, Theatre and Dance Department, admission is $15; $10 for seniors age 62-plus and SU faculty, staff and alumni; $5 for students. Tickets are available at www.salisbury.edu/performingarts.
