American Spiritual Ensemble Residency in Salisbury

SALISBURY, MD---The American Spiritual Ensemble showcases its inspirational talents during a 10-day residency in Salisbury, with many events at Salisbury University, October 16-26.

This marks the seventh residency on the Eastern Shore for the ensemble. Members have inspired audiences around the world with renditions of American Negro Spirituals, operatic and Broadway numbers, and other music derived from and celebrating the Black experience.

SU-hosted events include:

  • Monday, October 16, 4:30 p.m., Blackwell Hall Dance Studio – Master class featuring tap dancers
  • Tuesday, October 17, 12:30 p.m., Fulton Hall Room 112 and 130 – Master class featuring SU voice students 
  • Thursday, October 19, 12:30 p.m., Fulton Hall Room 112 and 130 – Master class featuring SU voice students 
  • Tuesday, October 24, 12:30 p.m., Fulton Hall Rooms 130 and 228 – Master class featuring SU voice students 
  • Saturday, October 21, 7:30 p.m., Holloway Hall Auditorium – Porgy and Bess with the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra: Tickets $25, $20 for seniors, $10 for SU faculty and staff and $5 for students, available through SU’s online box office at www.salisbury.edu/performingarts
  • Wednesday, October 25, 7:30 p.m., Holloway Hall Auditorium – “Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concerts” with Salisbury Pops

Admission is free unless otherwise noted. Those planning to park on campus must register in advance for a free parking pass.
