'2BoomerBabes' Final Show Scheduled June 25 on WSCL
SALISBURY, MD---For the past seven years, Kathy Bernard and Barbara Kline have shared their insights with listeners across the U.S. as hosts of the nationally syndicated 2BoomerBabes Radio Hour, produced at Delmarva Public Radio (DPR) since 2010.
On Saturday, June 25, they will say farewell as the show’s final episode airs at 7 a.m. on WSCL 89.5 FM.
“It’s been a wild and wonderful ride working with Kathy and Barb,” said DPR General Manager Dana Whitehair. “To see their program grow, then to see them grow even further – into publishing – has been a testament to just how talented and creative ‘the Babes’ are. We wish them the best of luck conquering the world of the printed word.”
Bernard and Kline began their media careers in the early 1990s, co-hosting the TV series Our Kids in the Washington, D.C., area. They created 2BoomerBabes in 2009. The show aired locally on WCEI 96.7 FM in Easton, MD, before catching the attention of National Public Radio’s (NPR’s) Jim Russell.
The founder of Marketplace and Weekend America, who also helped develop Morning Edition and All Things Considered, Russell felt there was a national audience for the light-hearted, often humorous look Bernard and Kline took at issues faced by the baby-boom generation.
“Jim took us under his wing, became our mentor and advisor which ultimately helped launch the show to new heights,” said Bernard upon the show’s transfer to DPR.
Following the program’s end, the co-hosts plan to focus on other creative ventures, including books and speaking engagements.
