AG 101 Seminars February 5, 12 and 19

SALISBURY, MD---The University of Maryland Cooperative Extension, the Small Farm Technical Assistance and Outreach Program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Delaware State University and the Small Business Development Center Network at Salisbury State University jointly sponsor a Delmarva Small Farm Shore Course: Ag 101 on Monday, February 5, 12 and 19 from 7-9:30 p.m. at SSU. 

The Small Farm Shore Course is geared toward new and beginning farmers, but should be of interest to all farmers, including those seeking to add new or alternative enterprises to their farms, or persons with acreage looking for methods of generating income as well as families who enjoy farming as a lifestyle or hobby. 

The February 5 class focuses on the building blocks of production agriculture: soils, plants and animals. On February 12 the class deals with management issues including enterprise analysis (what to grow?), developing a business plan (can I make money growing it?) and locating funding sources (how to pay for it?). The third class on February 19 covers marketing, ag marketing 101, small farm cooperatives and developing a marketing plan.

The cost for three sessions is $35 per person or family which includes a notebook of handouts and resource materials and a certificate of completion from the sponsoring organizations.
