Children's Theatre Ensemble Performs January 31-February 1

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University opens its doors to the community's youth Saturday-Sunday, January 31-February 1, as its Children's Theatre Ensemble presents the original production The Choicest Choicemaker of All. Performances are 1 and 3 p.m. in Fulton Hall's Black Box Theatre. The audience participates during the performance, helping the indecisive Choicemaker choose which of six traditional fables to tell and which character to be in those stories. Fables in the production include "The Ant and the Grasshopper," "The Little Red Hen," "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," "The Fox and the Goat," "The Sun and the Wind" and "The Tortoise and the Hare." By the performance's end, the Choicemaker has learned to make his own decisions and chooses to enter the final fable. Playwright Michelle Weber, a junior marketing and finance major from Cambridge, MD, said she hopes the production will entertain families and help teach children about independence and decision making. "It's easier for children to learn if they can interact," she said. Along with Weber, SU students Jonathan Kilberth, Andrea Outten and Ellen Van Gasbeck perform. Adjunct professor Andrew Heller directs. The Bobbi Biron Theatre Program is sponsor. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for children and seniors. SU ID holders are admitted free.
