Epilepsy Association Names SU Employer of the Year
SALISBURY, MD---Michael Elliott and Michael Tatum, the manager and an employee of Salisbury University Dining Services, were recognized by the Eastern Shore Epilepsy Association (EAES) for their efforts to promote employment for the disabled. Elliott and Tatum were presented with the Employer and Employee of the Year awards, respectively, during a ceremony at Phillips By the Sea in Ocean City, MD, Tuesday, November 11.
A local non-profit organization, the EAES aids in the control and prevention of epilepsy and provides service to the developmentally disabled. Also responsible for finding and fostering gainful employment for its clients, the agency recognizes Elliott for his continued support of the area’s disabled. Will Hemmingway of the EAES calls Dining Services his “favorite place to job coach,” as many of his clients have found satisfying, lasting employment there. He calls it a “very accepting and diverse work environment,” where productivity and community are encouraged.
Elliott calls Tatum, who received his award in a surprise ceremony, a “very deserving and dedicated worker who takes a lot of pride in his work.” Tatum, who has been at Dining Services for 2 years, is one of the many examples of success achieved through the collaboration of Salisbury University and the EAES.
