Hundreds of Students Expected at 10th 'Big Event' Cleanup Day Apr. 12
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University students unite to help the community during the 10th annual Big Event community cleanup day, sponsored by the Student Government Association Saturday, April 12.
During the community service project, hundreds of SU students help campus neighbors, who have signed up in advance, with household chores such as raking leaves, cleaning attics and painting.
“For the past decade, the Big Event has been a chance for students to connect with the residents of Salisbury and let them know that they mean a lot to the University community,” said Rachel Doyon, SGA vice president of University affairs. “The community does so much for SU, and this is our way of saying, ‘thank you.’”
“It is also important that we get to know our neighbors and they get to know us because we can learn a lot from each other,” said Jerrad Pawar, SGA vice president of external affairs. “Salisbury is our home, too, and we want it to be as nice as it can be.”
