Nabb Research Center Announces Four New Board Members

SALISBURY, MD---Gary V. Outten of Pocomoke City, MD, recently was appointed chair of the board of directors of the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury University.

Four new members join Outten on this year’s board:

Carolyn A. Adkins of Mardela Springs, MD. Adkins is a branch manager and security officer at Hebron Savings Bank. She grew up in Sharptown and has studied its history, as well as the genealogy of several local families, including the Coopers, Bradleys, Adkinses, Wilsons, Majors, Goslees, Satterfields and Whittingtons.

Eleanor Mulligan of Salisbury. After living abroad for more than a decade as a career singer, Mulligan wrote for publications including The Baltimore Sun’s evening edition. In addition to serving on the board, Mulligan volunteers at the center’s reading room.

Louis Parsons of Ocean City, MD. Coming from a long-time Eastern Shore family, Parsons was introduced to the Nabb Research Center as a past auction chair at the center’s Cellar House fundraising event in 2005. In addition to serving on the board, he is active with the center’s Memorial Program Committee.

Diane Savage of Berlin, MD. Savage has been a community activist and member of the board of directors for the Salisbury University Foundation, Inc., since 1985.

The Nabb Research Center collects and preserves archival material, artifacts and books, including family history, maps and microfilm pertaining to the Delmarva Peninsula. The center’s mission is to cultivate and sustain the advancement of scholarly research by collecting, preserving, disseminating and providing access to records and material culture that illustrate the rich history and heritage of Delmarva.
