SU Foundation Welcomes Two New Board Members
SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury University Foundation, Inc. has welcomed two new members to its board of directors: Timothy Miller of Easton and Michele Thomas of Salisbury.
“Tim and Michele have long personal and professional ties to the University,” said T. Greg Prince, executive director of the SU Foundation and vice president of advancement and external affairs. “Their collective business background coupled with genuine fondness for Salisbury University will guide their service to the Foundation. When meeting with each of them recently, I sensed their excitement to serve our University. Ultimately, our students and faculty will benefit from their involvement.”
An SU alumnus, Miller graduated in 1991 with a B.A. in liberal studies and a minor in marketing management. In 2010, he purchased National Premium beer, a once-defunct brand which he has reinvigorated and returned to the shelves. Since 2002, he has been a realtor with Benson & Mangold in Easton. Previously, he ran McMahan Oil Company, Inc., which his grandfather started in the 1940s.
Thomas, who studied at Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington, is vice president of business development at The Bank of Delmarva. She follows in the footsteps of her husband, Ed, the bank’s president and a past Foundation Board chair, who served from 1998-2010. They have supported the Marshall Moore Scholarship, Golf Classic and Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Jack Purnell-Chris Thomas Memorial Tennis Tournament, held annually on campus.
A former member of the SU men’s lacrosse team, Miller is a supporter of SU Athletics. A lifelong resident of the Eastern Shore, he also serves on boards for the Talbot County Library Foundation and the Talbot Lacrosse Association. He and his wife, Amy, have two children: Caroline and Timmy, Jr.
In the community, Thomas serves on boards for Junior Achievement, Lower Shore Enterprises and the Brooke Mulford Foundation. She previously has been involved with the Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Authority and Habitat for Humanity.
Guided by a 31-member board, the SU Foundation was created in 1973 to accumulate funds by gift and investment to enhance the University. Since then, it has enriched the academic growth and physical expansion of SU through the support of student scholarships, faculty research, new facilities and community outreach. This year, it celebrates 40 years of encouraging educational excellence.
