SU Glass Art Students Present 'Running Glass Fence' May 10-13

SALISBURY, MD---Visitors to Salisbury’s Pemberton Park from May 10-13 will have the opportunity to view a large-scale installation by Salisbury University glass art students.

The collaborative work, “Running Glass Fence,” allows students under the direction of SU art faculty Alison Chism to create 4-foot-by-6-foot sections of their interpretations of a fence. The sections, made from materials provided by Delmarva Recycling, will be joined to form a single work along Pemberton’s shallow marshland.

The class project is based on a combination of the works of large-scale artists Jeanne-Claude and Christo, British environmentalist and sculptor Andy Goldsworthy, and the folk art tradition of decorating fences with handmade or repurposed objects.

Installation takes place at 6 p.m. Monday, May 9. The work will remain on display until 3 p.m. Friday, May 13. Admission is free and the public is invited.
