SU Hosts 'Free on the Shore' Employee-Ownership Conference Friday, May 10

Perdue School of BusinessSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Management and Marketing Department in the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business co-hosts the Free on the Shore Employee-Ownership Conference 9-11a.m. Friday, May 10, in Perdue Hall’s Bennett Family Auditorium.

This event takes the place of the First on the Shore Employee-Ownership Conference, previously scheduled for that day. Registration opens at 9 a.m.

At 9:30 a.m., Mary Ann Beyster, president of The Foundation for Enterprise Development (FED) and executive producer of the documentary We the Owners: Employees Expanding the American Dream, speaks on the film and the stories behind it. As FED president, Beyster creates and manages programs to promote and advance interdisciplinary research on broad-based employee ownership. She recently presented at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Approximately 200 companies in Maryland are employee-owned or participate in profit-sharing, joining more than 10,000 throughout the United States. Some 25 employee-owned or profit-sharing companies are located on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Admission to the conference is free and the public is invited. The Perdue School’s Management and Marketing Department, Student Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management and Eastern Shore chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) co-sponsors the event.
