SU Hosts Screening of 'Fighting Back (1957-1962)' March 27
SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Clara Small, professor of history at Salisbury University, hosts a screening of Fighting Back (1957-1962), one episode of the PBS documentary series Eyes on the Prize 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27. A discussion follows.
The episode focuses on the results of the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court ruling that allowed African-American students to attend formerly all-white schools.
The film is shown in connection with this year’s E. Pauline Riall Lecture on Tuesday, April 3, delivered by Dr. Terrence Roberts, a member of the Little Rock Nine. This group of nine African-American students famously integrated Central High School in Little Rock, AR, in 1957, despite attempts by the Arkansas National Guard to keep them out.
The screening is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
