SU Men's Rugby Hosts National Playoffs Nov. 22-23
SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury University men’s rugby team goes to the National Sweet 16 and Elite 8 Saturday-Sunday, November 22-23, at the Crown Sports Center in Fruitland.
Crown is one of four locations nationwide hosting the USA Rugby National Championship playoffs that weekend, according to Coach Bill Creese. The SU Sharks' opponent will be Roger Williams University. The other teams playing in Fruitland are Notre Dame College of Ohio and Furman University, SC.
The Sharks won the Potomac Rugby Conference championship on Saturday, November 8, defeating Towson University, 24-22, in the game’s final minutes. Earlier in the season, Towson had given the Sharks their only loss.
Games at Crown Sports Center are 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day, Creese said, with a one-day pass for $10, $15 for two days. SU Gull Card holders are admitted for $3. The SU Sharks are four-time national champions in Division II.
