SU Students Win Annual Collegiate MAXI Award
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University students once again have proven themselves among the best marketers in the region, taking the top spot in the Direct Marketing Association of Washington Education Foundation (DMAWEF)’s annual Collegiate MAXI Award Program.
In the oral competition, SU’s teams vied against Christopher Newport University (VA) and Kings College (PA), as well as a team of second-year M.B.A. students from Johns Hopkins University to create the top marketing plan for one of two participating non-profit organizations.
The winning team was comprised of freshman Jessie Abbott of Stevensville, MD; and seniors Austin Dabbs of Columbia, MD; Olivia Husby of Annapolis; and Kellie Ketterman of Salisbury, advised by Paula Morris of SU’s Management and Marketing Department. They proposed a “one-two-three” membership development strategy for the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
The three-pronged approach included reaching out to up-and-coming college students and their parents, developing a large mosaic art piece from work submitted by those students and featuring the completed mosaic as an exhibit at the museum, potentially attracting new visitors for conversion into members. The idea netted SU’s team $700, 15 percent of which the students donated to the museum.
