Salisbury Symphony Orchestra Concert Honors Military
SALISBURY, MD--- The Salisbury Symphony Orchestra at Salisbury University presents its annual spring concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 3, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.
Conducted by Dr. Thomas G. Elliot, the concert features a number of musical pieces, including "Meditation" from Thais by Jules Massenet, "Blessed Are They" from A German Requium by Johannes Brahms and "Victory at Sea" and "Flower Drum Song" by Richard Rogers, arranged for orchestra by Robert Russell Bennett. SU tuba music major Justin Henderson solos in "Concerto for Bass Tuba and Orchestra" by Ralph Vaughan Williams.
The concert also includes Morton Gould's "American Salute" as a tribute to military personnel returning from overseas.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors over 60 and children 18 and under, and are available at local branches of Peninsula Bank and Bank of Delmarva during normal business hours.
