Youth Symphony Orchestra Nov. 14,Holloway Hall, 2 p.m.

SALISBURY, MD--The Salisbury Symphony Affiliated Youth Symphony Orchestra performs its Fall Concert in Holloway Hall Auditorium on the campus of Salisbury State University on Sunday, November 14, at 2 p.m.

Dr. Thomas G. Elliot, music director and conductor, excitedly anticipates the concert based on the Youth Orchestra's significant recent successes. Last May, the Youth Orchestra was invited to perform at the new Port Discovery children's museum in Baltimore, receiving an invitation to return. This fall, the Youth Orchestra performed at the Worcester Preparatory School in Berlin, MD, as the culminating performance of the school's celebration of Fine Arts Week.

The Youth Orchestra student musicians are representative of the entire Eastern Shore. Members come from Talbot, Caroline, Worcester, Somerset and Wicomico counties, as well as Georgetown, Laurel, Lewes and Seaford, DE. Their ages range from 10-18. Unique to this orchestra are the Salisbury State students (currently 14) who act as coaches and mentors at regular Thursday night rehearsals held on the SSU campus.

Selections for the November concert include "Scottish Fantasy" by Robert Washburn, "Down a Country Lane" by Aaron Copland; "Procession of the Sardar" from Caucasian Sketches by Ippolitov-Ivanov and "A Symphonic Portrait" by Irving Berlin.

Tickets, $5 for adults and $2 for children (18 and under) and seniors (60+), are available at Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council ticket outlets (which are any Peninsula Bank and Bank of Delmarva branch offices), or at the door the afternoon of the concert.
