The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore has committed $15,000 to a new fellowship program for Master of Social Work post-graduate students. Managed by Salisbury University’s School of Social Work, the fellowship will provide new clinicians a two-year opportunity to practice in the local area, expanded training opportunities, professional development, and access to supervisory support to reduce burnout and enhance success. For many years, Salisbury University’s Business Economic and Community Outreach Network (BEACON) has had its finger on the pulse of business in the Salisbury area, on the Eastern Shore and the Mid-Atlantic. Along with the Tri-County Councils of the Eastern Shore and local economic development leaders, BEACON is maintaining that leadership in the economic community, conducting the summer biannual Eastern Shore Business Sentiment Survey. Some 39 law enforcement officers from Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, Dorchester, Talbot and Caroline counties recently graduated among the 92nd entrance-level class of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy (ESCJA) operated by Wor-Wic Community College. Yellow Springs News: SU's Wight, Students Perform with NIA Men's Chorus

Twenty-seven members of the NIA Men's Chorus at Chillicothe Correctional Institution in Ohio recently performed “Les Mis Inside,” a pared-down version of the popular musical Les Misérables, before an audience of invited guests. Joniing them were Dr. John Wesley Wright, coordinator of the voice program in Salisbury University's Music, Theatre and Dance Department, as well as several SU students. Wight has worked with Catherine Roma, director of the chorus, to bring music to incarcerated people for some 30 years.

It's been almost a full year since Monica Polizzi became the new Director of Athletics & Recreation at Salisbury University, and for the Salisbury native and Parkside High School alum, coming back home to work for the university was something that was always on her radar. After building a career in sports, from playing and coaching to administration, the opportunity came about almost exactly a year ago. Looking ahead, she is optimistic about the Sea Gulls' 2024-25 Athletics season. Read More
