Cathcart Attends Microcomputers in Education Conference
SALISBURY, MD--Dr. Don Cathcart, Salisbury State University provost, recently participated in the 19th annual Microcomputers in Education Conference at Arizona State University’s Technology Based Learning and Research Center. The theme of this year’s conference was "Classroom Solutions for the Next Century."
The Microcomputers in Education Conference was a three-day forum that enable administrators, teachers, researchers, professionals and technology specialists from across the country to investigate recent advances in emerging educational technologies.
Conference participants explored the expanding world of electronic communications and technology in the classroom through a variety of activities, lectures and hands-on opportunities. Cathcart presented a session titled "Integrating Science and Math in Middle and High School Mathematics." The session focused on ways students can investigate the concepts of change, rate of change and percent change by examining proportionally relationships in life and physical sciences. Cathcart provided illustrative examples using spreadsheets and the software modeling tool STELLA.
