SU Hosts Screening of 'The Other Side of the Wind' November 2

Other Side of the Wind SetSALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury University Honors College hosts a screening of Orson Welles’ The Other Side of the Wind 5:30 p.m. Friday, November 2, in Fulton Hall Room 111.

A faculty panel discussion and audience question-and-answer session follow. Panelists include Drs. Andrew Martino, Honors College dean; James Burton of the Communication Arts Department; and Ryan Conrath and Elsie Walker of the English Department.

A satire of the passing of classic Hollywood and the avant garde filmmakers of the 1970s, the film initially was shot between 1970 and 1976 before it was shelved, unfinished. Netflix recently completed the film, from Welles’ initial 40-minutes of editing, into a full feature using existing footage.

Billed as Welles’ final movie, the film stars late director John Huston and includes appearances by entertainment luminaries Cameron Crowe and the late Dennis Hopper and George Jessel, among others. It is scheduled for national release the day of the SU screening.

Co-sponsored by the Honors College, Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts, and Literature/Film Quarterly, SU’s international film adaptation journal, admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-677-6556 or visit the SU website.
