Salisbury Symphony Orchestra Performs 'On the Double' Concert
SALISBURY, MD---Violinist Igor Kalnin and pianist Rochelle Sennet, performing as Duo MemDi, join the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra at Salisbury University (SSO) for the concert “On the Double” 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.
Directed by Dr. Jeffrey Schoyen, they perform with the SSO on Mozart’s “Concerto in D for Violin, Piano and Orchestra.” Other selections include Ravel’s “Pavane for a Dead Princess”; Bach’s “Fantasia and Fugue” in C, BWV 537 (arranged by Elgar); and Janacek’s “Six Lachian Dances.”
Duo MemDi (short for “memory” and “diversity”) has performed throughout Europe, Asia and the U.S. Kalnin and Sennet perform all repertoire by memory with the belief that it allows them to connect with composers’ ideas in a more profound and insightful way. They are dedicated to increasing diversity and inclusion in classical music, working with composers from varying backgrounds.
Concert admission is $25, $20 for seniors age 60 and older, $10 for SU faculty and staff, and $5 for students and children 18 and under. Advance tickets are available online at www.SalisburySymphonyOrchestra.org and at the Guerrieri Student Union Information Desk.
