SU Celebrates Recent Faculty Successes
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University celebrates the following recent faculty successes:
Ervin Named BBBSES Board Member of the Year
Dr. Dan Ervin, professor of finance in the Economics and Finance Department, was named Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore’s (BBBSES’s) 2020 board member of the year.
Currently chair of the organization’s board of directors, Ervin has been instrumental in the concept, construction and launch of BBBSES’s community programs and services, growing the non-profit into one of the area’s leading youth mentoring organizations in the area.
Presotto Publishes in Animal Cognition
Dr. Andrea Presotto, assistant professor of geography and geosciences, published the article “Navigating in a Challenging Semiarid Environment: The Use of a route-Based Mental Map by a Small-Bodied Neotropical Primate” in the interdisciplinary scholarly journal Animal Cognition.
Co-authored with Drs. Paul Garber of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; and Antonio Souto and Nicola Schiel of the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, the study investigated whether the navigation of wild marmosets was consistent with the topological navigation of larger primates and how environmental factors may affect that navigation.
Small Keynote Published
An address by Dr. Clara Small, SU professor emerita of history, was published in the latest edition of International Social Science Review.
Small, second vice president of the Pi Gamma Mu international honor society in social sciences, delivered the address as the keynote at the organization’s 2017 triennial international convention. The African American history expert spoke about her often rocky path from elementary school to retirement as she neared the culmination of a nearly half-century career in higher education.
