SU, UMBC Percussion Ensembles Combine for Nov. 19 Concert

Friday drumsSALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury University Percussion Ensemble hosts “Friday Drums Strikes Back” 2 p.m. Friday, November 19, in Fulton Hall Room 112.

The concert is a collaboration between the SU and University of Maryland Baltimore County percussion ensembles.

Among the pieces in the concert, the ensembles perform John Cage’s “Trio,” Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s “-aura-” and Eric Shuster’s “Spindrift” for percussion.

Directed by Shuster, the SU Percussion Ensemble includes Eric Gehl and Chris Lankford and will perform James Tenney’s “Timbres No. 1,” Stuart Saunders Smith’s “Songs I-IX” and Ornette Coleman’s “Broadway Blues.”

Directed by Tom Goldstein, the UMBC Ensemble includes Alex Armbruster, Connor Fuerst, Brandon Gouin, Michal Magidson, Kyra O’Donnel and Adam Smith.

The two ensembles will perform “Speed Wobbles” by Goldstein.
