CUNY Professor Discusses COVID-19 Research Trip Experience
SALISBURY, MD---What was expected to be a research visit to Barbados during spring 2020 semester turned into much more when the COVID-19 pandemic struck and turned things upside down for Dr. Rebecca Shapiro, City University of New York associate professor of English.
Salisbury University hosts a discussion with Shapiro about her experience 7 p.m. Monday, March 22, during the presentation “Exceptionalism and Anxiety in ‘Little England’” in a virtual format.
Unable to return home due to travel restrictions, Shapiro participated in the Black Lives Matter movement as it occurred on the island. In her talk, she discusses her experiences as academic, political and personal commitments became integrated into a single, seamless story.
Sponsored by the Fulton Public Humanities Program, the event is free and the public is invited. To register visit the event page.
