SU Among Eastern Shore Juneteenth Parade and Festival Sponsors

Juneteenth flagSALISBURY, MD---On June 19, 1865, two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, Union soldiers arrived in Texas with news that the Civil War had ended and all slaves were then free, marking the end of one of the most oppressive eras in American history.

Salisbury University is proud to join the University System of Maryland in recognizing Juneteenth, a celebration of Black history, culture, resistance and resilience.

SU joins other community partners as a sponsor of the Eastern Shore Juneteenth Parade and Festival on Saturday, June 18, in downtown Salisbury. For information visit the Eastern Shore Juneteenth website.

Monday, June 20, is a full SU holiday for all students and employees in observance of Juneteenth. However you choose to spend the day, please join SU in making an impact.
