Demko Discusses Cannabis Legalization at SU April 1
By SU Public Relations
SALISBURY, MD---Paul Demko, cannabis editor for Politico, speaks to the Salisbury University community 7 p.m. Monday, April 1, in Conway Hall Room 152.
Demko speaks about reporting on the developments of marijuana legalization over the last decade in the U.S. as 23 states – representing more than half the country’s population – have passed legislation. Legal cannabis sales are slated to hit $35 billion this year and are expected to double by 2030. Legalization advocates argue that it’s a long overdue corrective to a decades-long drug war that disproportionately targeted Black and brown people and put thousands of people in prison for non-violent offenses. Demko discusses the laws, stigmas, business and social aspects of marijuana legalization, and the consequences and opportunities attached to it.
