Champions Wear Under Armour: Salisbury University Athletics Partners with Industry Leader
SALISBURY, MD---Champions wear gold and now, Salisbury University champions will wear Under Armour.
SU and the Maryland-based athletic apparel company are partnering to make Under Armour the official game day outfitter for the University’s 23 varsity sports, which proudly boast 47 combined team and individual national championships.
“We are thrilled to partner with Under Armour to outfit our teams in competition,” said Monica Polizzi, SU director of athletics and campus recreation. “Under Armour is a name recognized around the world as a top apparel company, just as Salisbury University is known around the country as a top NCAA athletics program. As a Maryland institution, we feel a close connection to Under Armour, a Maryland company, and we look forward to seeing our students benefit from the partnership.”
The deal will see all SU varsity student-athletes competing in Under Armour uniforms, with the proximity to the company’s headquarters in Baltimore allowing SU student-athletes access to product testing. Polizzi hopes some contests will take place at Under Armour Stadium, the 1,400-seat facility at the center of the headquarters’ campus in Baltimore.
“The men’s lacrosse program worked with Under Armour during our 2024 season, and the partnership could not have been better,” said 13-time national champion Jim Berkman, SU men’s lacrosse coach. “The quality of the uniforms that our players wore was second to none, and I know the relationship will only grow with all SU athletics teams partnering with the company.”
For years, coaches at SU had researched uniform options from different companies for their own teams, leading to an inconsistency within brand practices for the department and added work for the coaching staffs in communicating with different companies. This partnership will bring a consistent look to SU’s teams across all sports and brand recognition for which the student-athletes are excited.
“The student-athletes in our program are very excited to partner with Under Armour,” said five-time national champion Dawn Chamberlin, head field hockey coach. “Collegiate student-athletes gain a sense of pride in wearing a uniform that not only performs well in the heat of competition, but also looks sharp. Under Armour meets both of these objectives.”
SU’s club and intramural sports also will benefit from the partnership. Club teams will have the opportunity to work with Under Armour for uniforms, while the intramural sports program will have the ability to purchase apparel for competition. “Under Armour is innovative and always developing new looks and technologies,” said Polizzi. “This partnership will ensure not only that our student-athletes are outfitted with the best-looking uniforms, but that they are in the best position to be successful in competition.”
