Aliu Inaugurates Spring Writers-on-the-Shore Series Monday, February 10
SALISBURY, MD---Award-winning author Xhenet Aliu inaugurates Salisbury University’s spring Writers-on-the-Shore series 8 p.m. Monday, February 10, in the Worcester Room of the Commons.
Aliu’s Domesticated Wild Things and Other Stories won the 2012 Prairie Schooner Book Prize in fiction. Her writing has appeared in journals including Glimmer Train, Hobart, The Barcelona Review and Necessary Fiction, among other publications.
She has received grants, scholarships and fellowships from the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, The Elizabeth George Foundation and the Djerassi Resident Artists Program.
“This author with the exotic name has a unique writing style that reads like musical rap,” said Aaron Row in the San Francisco Book Review. Publisher’s Weekly lauded her work’s “sharp dialogue and sense of the absurd,” adding that the characters were “humorous and vibrant.”
Sponsored by the English Department and Writers-on-the-Shore, admission to her reading is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU website at www.salisbury.edu.
