SALISBURY, MD---The Artists’ Co-Op celebrates its 20th year during its annual group exhibition at Salisbury University.

Scheduled July 26-August 21 in the University Gallery of Fulton Hall, the exhibit features a memorial tribute to one of its founding members, Sue Thomas. Works by Thomas, who passed away in April, are among those shown. A reception is 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 29.

The exhibition overlaps the eighth annual Jack Purnell-Chris Thomas Memorial Tennis Tournament to benefit Coastal Hospice. Named, in part, in memory of Thomas’ son, the tournament is also held at SU, from August 17-21. Spectators at the sporting event are encouraged to visit the gallery, located beside the courts.

Founded in 1992, the Artists’ Co-Op is comprised of local professionals whose pieces vary in media and style. Many of them teach art, conduct workshops and show nationally and abroad. Members have been in solo and juried shows, and have received individual awards.

Works on display include paintings, sculpture, ceramics, photography, mixed media and digital prints. Co-op artists include Marie Cavallaro, Clytie Whitson-Taylor, April Devlin, Ann Eelman, Angela Herbert-Hodges, Nancy Mysak, Aina Nergaard-Nammack, Gloria Young Smith, Betty Sur and Margery Violetta.

The gallery, operating on summer hours, is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday. Special hours for the exhibit have been added from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, and noon-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, August 20-21, to coincide with the Purnell-Thomas Tournament.

Admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-548-2547 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
