BEACON Welcomes Diverse Student Research Teams
SALISBURY, MD---The Business, Economic, and Community Outreach Network (BEACON), an affiliate of Salisbury University’s Perdue School of Business, welcomes a diverse team of student researchers to participate in project work for the fall semester. Included in the wide array of ethnic backgrounds are team members from France, Cuba, Turkey, Romania and the United States.
Audrey Carrein, a graduate of ESC Rennes in France, is currently working toward a Master of Business Administration from SU. This is her first semester in the United States. Carrein says that she is attracted to working with BEACON because she will gain “great experience and many opportunities” for her business career.
With a strong multicultural background including parents from Chile and Mexico, Cuban-born undergraduate Janitzio Outtara brings a diverse background to the BEACON team. Outtara believes she will gain unmatchable experience by performing outreach work, which helps build her interpersonal skills. “I have lived in many different countries, and I have experienced many different cultures,” Outtara said. “I value the diversity among the BEACON team members.”
Babur Coskay is an international M.B.A. student from Istanbul, Turkey. Coskay comments, “BEACON was the very best opportunity for me to convert my theoretical knowledge into practice.” Coskay says he is valuable to the BEACON team because he brings “knowledge of international views to clients.” As an international student from Romania, Valentin Moscaliuc is also working toward a Master of Business Administration at SU. “I am very happy that I have had the opportunity to work with such a wonderful team, both management and students,” said Moscaliuc. He graduates in December. Jennifer Boswell, an undergraduate from Salisbury, is studying business administration and concentrating in management. Boswell says, “I enjoy the diversity we have at BEACON – I am exposed to new cultures, exciting ideas and valuable learning experiences.” She believes that her current project endeavors are instrumental in gaining valuable experience for a human resources career. Currently working on the marketing and public relations of BEACON, Meredith Burkhead believes that she is gaining just the kind of experience she needs for her future. As an undergraduate from Modest Town, VA, Burkhead thinks that she brings marketing skills, enthusiasm and dedication to the BEACON team. “BEACON’s marketing and public relations project is helping me to prepare for my career,” she said.
