Baker Explores 'Kin and Sin' on the Eastern Shore September 30

SALISBURY, MD---What were the earliest settlements like on the Eastern Shore?

Vaughn Baker, a 12th-generation Shore native, attempts to answer that question and more during “Kin and Sin: Early Settlers of the Eastern Shore” 7 p.m. Thursday, September 30. His presentation is at Salisbury University’s Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture Gallery in the East Campus Complex, 190 Wayne Street.

Baker speaks on the 1614 detachment and 1624 colony of Europeans on the Shore, their kinships, and their roots from England and the Low Countries. He also discusses the area’s first Quaker settlements and land scams used by some to gain additional property.
