Building a Safe, Drug-Free Workplace Seminar February 25

SALISBURY, MD ---Employee substance abuse costs companies billions of dollars a year in absenteeism, accidents, lost productivity, health and workers compensation expenses, inconsistent work quality, employee theft, and errors in judgment. An employer without a Drug-Free Workplace Program (DFWP) very often becomes vulnerable to substance abusers.

"Building a Safe, Drug-Free Workplace," a seminar sponsored by Salisbury University's Small Business Development Center, is on Tuesday, February 25, from 9 a.m.-noon in the Commons building at Salisbury University.

All levels of staff need to be included in the development and implementation of a DFWP. Owners, personnel managers or drug-free workplace coordinators are urged to attend the workshop to develop policies and procedures that meet their needs. To encourage candid discussions about sensitive issues, participation is limited.

Topics covered include: Why you need a drug-free workplace; Responding to a troubled employee; The 4 W's of workplace drug testing; and Legalities of a Maryland DFWP.

Cost of the program is $35 per person.
