CCART Art Scholarship Sale and Exhibit Nov. 13-17

SALISBURY, MD---Established area artists as well as a new generation selected from Salisbury University and the local community are participating in the second annual Cavallaro Cleary Art Foundation (CCART) Art Scholarship Sale and Exhibit.

The holiday sale at Cleary Gallery & Studio located at 118-B North Division Street opens with a reception on Tuesday, November 13, from 5 - 8 p.m.  Throughout the sale, artwork and gift certificates from area merchants will be raffled.  Expected pieces for a silent action are clay works by Ernie Stachel and Marie Cavallaro, a nativity set created by the friends of CCART, a landscape by John Cleary and more.  The exhibit runs Wednesday - Saturday, November 14-17, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Proceeds help CCART, a nonprofit group dedicated to the visual arts, raise money for art scholarships for area high school students demonstrating academic and artistic excellence.  CCART board members include co-founders Cavallaro, a member of the SU art faculty and Cleary, recently retired from SU as well as community members Jane Bailey, Sue Thomas and Beth Hébert.

Artists from the East Coast are selling and contributing various artworks such as pottery, paintings, prints, glass and jewelry.  They include potters from the Clay Guild of the Eastern Shore as well as Lynda Dashiell-Ohotnicky (VT), SU alumna Ruth Omara (MA) and Beth Fusaro (FL). Also represented are the Artist Co-op of Salisbury and other painters such as alumna Lynne Lockhart, Abby Phillips, Myrna McGrath, Jane Hiddleson, Kirk McBride and 12 year-old Mac Baldwin.  Several current SU faculty and students are also slated to participate.

The third floor of the Cleary Gallery and Studio features works by five artists: SU alumni Regina Schmidt and Ron Lambert along with Scott Floyd, Bradley Hudson and Jim Rehak. 

Local businesses and organizations supporting CCART's event with donations and gifts include the Gallery Art & Framing, the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council, Sir Speedy printing company, SU’s Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture, Advantage Color Lab, Asaps Florist and Gifts, The Main Squeeze, City Florist, Bernco Corporate and Sears department store.  Proceeds from the event not only benefit CCART scholarship recipients but also the SU Art Department’s Scholarship Fund.  For information on the scholarship sale call 410-546-1068.
