Cavallaro receives award from Corning Community College

SALISBURY, MD ---Marie Cavallaro, ceramic artist and professor of art at Salisbury University, recently received the 2002 Communications/Humanities Division Alumni Award from Corning Community College in Corning, NY.

Cavallaro is an associate professor and former chair of SU's Art Department in the Fulton School of Liberal Arts.

She is president of Cavallaro Cleary Visual Arts Foundation (CCART), an art scholarship foundation that she co-founded with former SU professor John Cleary. In 2002 CCART granted $1,300 in art scholarships and awards.

In addition to her associate's degree from Corning, Cavallaro holds a bachelor's in art education from the State University College at Buffalo and a master's in fine arts from East Tennessee State University. She began teaching at SU in 1973. In 1978 Cavallaro was a member of the Fulbright teachers exchange to England.

Widely-known for her ceramics and 3-D design, Cavallaro's work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the eastern United States.
