Classical Guitarist William Feasley Performs at SU April 18

SALISBURY, MD---One of the world’s foremost classical guitarists, William Feasley, performs a unique musical tribute to one of the world’s foremost artists at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18, in Holloway Hall Auditorium. Feasley presents “Echoes of Goya,” a multimedia presentation on the life of the famous painter and his impact on several generations of composers. Feasley was the first guitarist to receive the Peabody Conservatory’s Artist Diploma. Since making his debut in 1980 with the San Francisco Ballet, he has maintained an active international touring schedule, appearing at St. Martin in the Fields in London, Washington National Cathedral and Yale University. He has toured with the Russian Chamber Orchestra as well as Washington’s 20th Century Consort. He also has performed live on ABC International Radio in Australia and been featured in the CBS special Eulogy of Segovia. The recipient of a gold medal in the 1987 Panhellenic Guitar Competition in Athens, Greece, and Baltimore Chamber Music Awards in 1990 and 1995, he has released two critically acclaimed albums on the Sonora label: Simplicity with oboist Vladimir Lande and American Sketches, a look at musical Americana with rags, Gershwin and Coplandesque landscapes. His most recent release, Shenandoah, is a collection of works with roots in popular or folk music including Robert Beaser and Joaquin Rodrigo.
