Councilman, Veteran Ed Taylor Speaks Tuesday, April 4

SALISBURY, MD---In 1951, at age 19, Edward Theodore Taylor was drafted into the U.S. Army. Stationed in Korea, he saw the horrors of war firsthand, leaving an impression for life.

Today a Wicomico County councilman, Taylor speaks on his new book, Just God and Me: A Korean War Veteran Remembers, 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center at Salisbury University.

In the memoir, Taylor recounts his nine months of brutal combat in Korea, dramatizing his will to survive the physical adversities and traumatic psychological effects of culminating events on the battlefield. In the book, Taylor writes about his struggle to maintain sanity and offers insight into the lives of some of the war’s most vulnerable victims: children.

Following the war, Taylor became an educator, spending a 35-year career as an elementary and middle school teacher, a high school vice principal and a pupil personnel worker in Wicomico County. He lives in Salisbury with his wife of 50 years, Doretta Jones Taylor.
