Daadaoui Discusses 'The Arab Uprisings, Social Media and the Monarchical 'Exception'' at SU Thursday, February 20

SALISBURY, MD---Uprisings that have swept across the Middle East and North Africa are changing the political landscape.

While the sources of Arab grievances are similar, the Arab revolt so far has produced differing results. Dr. Mohamed Daadaoui discusses the role of social media in these events and why kings have fared better than their republican counterparts as the next speaker in Salisbury University’s Bellavance Honors Lecture Series.

His presentation, “It’s Good to Be the King: the Arab Uprisings, Social Media and the Monarchical ‘Exception,’” is 7 p.m. Thursday, February 20, in the Worcester Room of the Commons.

Daadaoui, professor of political science at Oklahoma City University, is the author of Moroccan Monarchy and the Islamist Challenge: Maintaining Makhzen Power. His research has appeared in The Journal of North African Studies, among other publications.
