Dr. Clara L. Small Earns Pi Gamma Mu Faithful Service Award
SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Clara L. Small, professor of History in the Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts at Salisbury University, recently earned the Faithful Service Award from Pi Gamma Mu, the international honor society in the social sciences, in Winfield, KS.
Small received the award at the society’s Triennial Conference in Nashville for her many years of service to the SY chapter and the international office.
Small organized the Maryland Gamma chapter at SU in 1982. It was officially chartered in 1983. She has served as a co-advisor since 1982 and was named chancellor of the northeastern region in 1991. She has been re-elected to the post every three years since, most recently this September.
The northeastern region includes 54 active college and university chapters from Maine to Maryland. Her responsibilities include chartering new chapters, resolving conflicts and serving as a liaison between the chapters and the international office.
As chancellor, she also is a member of the society’s board of trustees and committees including the scholarship awards committee.
