Embroiderer's Guild of America 'Fiber Forum' Exhibit Comes to SU
SALISBURY, MD---For members of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America, needlepoint is not just a hobby; it’s an art form.
The guild’s Fiber Forum presents its work locally from August 27–October 1 with an exhibit at the Atrium Gallery in Salisbury University’s Guerrieri University Center. A “Meet-the-Artists” reception is 3-7 p.m. Saturday, September 13. Fiber crafts demonstrations are 1-4 p.m. Wednesdays, September 3-24.
Hand, free-motion and digitized machine embroidery are different methods these artists use to make their works. Using different fibers and contemporary mixed media techniques, Fiber Forum members create textured pieces that seem almost like paintings.
Sponsored by the University Galleries, admission is free and the public is invited. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday–Wednesday, closed holidays. For more information call 410-548-2547 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
