Environmental Musician David Rothenberg Performs April 20

class=""MsoNormal"">SALISBURY, MD---Environmental musician David Rothenberg performs 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center at Salisbury University. This performance is part of the spring cultural series “One Earth, Many Disciplines.”

class=""MsoNormal"">Rothenberg is a jazz clarinetist known for his integration of world music with improvisation and electronics, has released six CDs.  Rotenberg is both philosopher and musician and is the author of six books. His latest, Why Birds Sing, is due out this year. 

class=""MsoNormal"">Rothenberg’s musical works of Rothenberg have received widespread praise.  John Cage hailed his 1995 release with Glen Velez and Graeme Boone as a “sense of virtuosity traveling all over the world.” The same record also was named one of the top 10 releases by Jazziz magazine. In 2000, Rothenberg released Before the War with natural sound artist Douglas Quin, which The Guardian in Britain called “genuine 21st century music.” In addition to being a writer, philosopher and ecologist, Rothenberg is a professor of philosophy and music at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
