Four From SU Advance in NATS Competition
SALISBURY, MD---Four Salisbury University music students will advance in six categories to the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Mid-Atlantic regional auditions, following wins at the Maryland-Washington, D.C., state auditions held at Morgan State University. They are:
- Tyler Brunner of Finksburg, MD - 1st place, junior/senior men’s musical theatre
- John Wixted of Ronkonkoma, NY - 1st place, freshman/sophomore men’s musical theatre; 1st place, sophomore men’s classical music
- Meredith Jones of Salisbury - 1st place, junior/senior women's musical theatre; Honors, senior women's classical music
- Desiree Borges of La Plata, MD - Honors, freshman women’s classical music
They each received an average score of 50 or better out of a possible 60 points and were judged on tone quality, vocal technique, body alignment/freedom, artistry, musicianship, and effectiveness of communication. Participants included students from schools in the University System of Maryland, as well as community colleges and private studios throughout the state and Washington, D.C.
